Royston resident no fan of blow-up ornaments

Dear editor,

I like the colorful Christmas lights on the houses, on the lawns and in the windows this time of the year.

The good thing is the lights can be re-used for the years to come. On the other hand, when I see all the Christmas blow up toys on the lawns I get sick to my stomach. Not only does it all look so artificial but also half the blowers don’t work (I guess due to our climate) to keep the toys up-right. It ends up as a pretty sad looking display. These toys are made to last maybe one Christmas season and then off to the landfill they go. What a waste!  Yes, one day everything will end-up at the landfill. My Christmas wish for everyone is to have a happy holiday season, and to think twice what you put into the shopping basket and go ching ching.

The planet and I thank you.

Royston
