In response to retired RCMP Keith Ferguson’s letter to the editor regarding Mr. Resch’s letter, I would like to thank the RCMP for their efforts to enforce the slow down and move over law.
On Dec. 13, 2006, our lives changed forever because this law was not in place in our province.
Ernie Semkiw was my husband, father of my son, father-in-law to my son’s wife and the papa to my three granddaughters.
Yes, this accident was avoidable and very tragic.
One should never go to work and not return home.
The void is unbearable.
So please people, respect our slow down and move over law.
Drive with care, be a defensive driver at all times and use common sense. Make our roadways a safe place for emergency personnel to do their jobs.
Trust me Mr. Resch, I would rather have to drive to Merritt for a court hearing than have to tell my family that papa is never coming home.
