Santa’s helpers

Santas Anonymous appreciates the support of the community

More than 4,500 marshmallows take a lot of time and effort to mount on to spikes on a cold afternoon and evening during the annual Downtown Vernon Light Up.

This was our 11th year doing this for the community, and after most of us spent a long time in hot showers afterwards, we all agreed it was again a successful and fun effort.

Thanks to the members and volunteers who came out to help, especially the exchange students from China and the band students from Seaton school. Huge thanks to Paul, at Butcher Boys, for donating 70 pounds of marshmallows this year.

More than 900 individual spikes were used, so a lot of people took the opportunity of participating in a winter ritual. Merry Christmas to all from Santa and the elves.
