School plans changing

Editor: Where did my school go?

The school district web site has an April 12 notification from the board of education (under the name of Steve Burton), noting that the district has successfully negotiated a land exchange. This transfers the land earmarked for the school district at 19865 70 Ave. to the Township of Langley.

It is interesting to see that the Langley School District population is reported to be dropping, when there is such an increase in density on the Willoughby slope.

We have R.C. Garnett Elementary at 7096 201 St. that is overcrowded. Children who live in the vicinity cannot all attend this local school.

The land exchange that the district was part of now forms the basis for a development application for 103 townhouses in the area of 198A Street and 70 Avenue to 200 Street and 71 Avenue.

This area now no longer has land for a school. Elementary schools in this area are already over capacity. Where will children go to school?
