When I first read the letter titled “Cash grab,” I was totally amazed. Many colourful descriptions were bantered about. I wanted to jump up and rock, roll and rant.
Then I said to myself, “Self, why not respond intelligently, so that others with the same mind set as “Cash Grab” might see the light.”
So here goes. The RCMP does not meddle. They enforce the law, one of which compels the use of seat belts.
Insurance companies do care about those not wearing seat belts. Mainly because in the vast majority of motor vehicle accidents involving the lack of seat belt use, the additional medical costs they must shell out in relation to head, neck, nose, teeth, eye, back, etc. and blunt object injuries, would seriously impede their ability to offer low cost insurance to those of us who do wear seat belts.
Yes, you have the ability, not the right, to ignore this particular law. It is your choice.
You may wish to consult with families, friends and employers dealing with the results of other drivers who have made the same choice.
Those same other drivers now relying on their insurance providers to help them mend.
If you feel like you don’t want to pay, well, I don’t either.
Wear now or pay later?
