Shriners service

We would like to thank reporter Lauren Collins and editor John Harding for their coverage of little Elysia Beaudrey (The NEWS, Sept. 27).

The report was extremely well written and shows what can be done when charitable organizations work together with families, and their support professionals, to assist our local children in need.

Shriners are probably best known for their appearance in our community parades, featuring Jezebel our camel. However, now you know we do much more than that.

We hope that this article will encourage other families, who have children with disabilities, to approach us to see if we can help. Please contact the following Parksville-Qualicum Shrine Club members for further information: Dennis Brost, Hospital Representative at 250-738-0802, canucknz@telus.net, or Bob Webber, President, at 250-752-6510, bobwebber@shaw.ca.

Remember, that the Shriners’ motto is: “Having Fun Helping Kids.”
