Silence makes abuse more powerful

It is estimated that one in three women will experience abuse sometime in their lifetime.

Thank  you for your recent article, Royal LePage Shelter Foundation: Partnership between groups broadens help for transition houses. (www.peninsulanewsreview.com)

One of the agencies who will benefit from this partnership, the Victoria Women’s Transition House, was instrumental in helping me extricate myself and my two children from an abusive marriage through their Stopping the Violence counseling program. Thanks to the knowledgeable, supportive counselors in that program, today my children and I enjoy a peaceful, loving home.

It is estimated that one in three women will experience abuse sometime in their lifetime; abuse that recognizes no socio-economic or ethnic boundaries. Abuse does happen here in our communities and silence only makes it more powerful.

I commend Country Grocer, Royal LePage and Creekmore Coffee on their commitment to use their resources to make a positive change in their communities.
