I just wanted to comment that the site next to the Kalamalka campus of Okanagan College and the highway isn’t the most suitable place to build a sport facility.
It may end up there but since I first heard that this was being considered, I had a couple of concerns.
Next to a busy and getting busier highway seems to be a strange place to build a running and exercise facility.
I also think that we should be encouraging bicycling and walking.
Development of a sport facility at a high point of the community, and well away from the centre of the city, will not encourage this.
Considering the number of people living below the college and attending classes, you see very few bicycles and walkers along the highway but the parking lot is full of cars.
I suppose my point is that we need to get people out of their cars and I hope that needs of cyclists and pedestrians are part of the decision-making on site locations for public facilities.
