To the Editor,
Re: CO2 a tiny part of environment, Letters, Oct. 10.
It is exactly the point that although carbon dioxide is only a small fraction of the atmoshere (.036 per cent to be exact) that very small changes in this distribution have profound effects on our climate.
At 360 parts per million, a change to 400 parts per million is a change of 11 per cent. If we had a change of 11 per cent in the oxygen levels, would that make a difference? If we got an 11 per cent raise in our wages, would that make a difference? Of course it would.
The sad part is that the only thing mankind produces on a large scale due to industrialization and the automobile is carbon dioxide.
I am not a tree hugger, but I believe that global warming is real. Unfortunately money talks and the fossil fuel business is big money.
