Socreds were good to our history
I have great respect for T. W. Paterson and his historical research and writing. But I think in the interest of fairness, his criticism of the B.C. Socreds for seeing “no dollar value in our heritage and [acting] accordingly” is unfair. He makes this criticism in the context of the Royal BC Museum seeking public support.
It should be remembered that the Social Credit government of W.A.C. Bennett built the present Royal BC Museum which, when I was young, was housed in the East Wing of the Parliament Buildings. The same government erected signs next to highways around the province commemorating various local historical events and geographic features.
