Sonia Furstenau setting a good example

Re: “COVID requires humility from government”, (Citizen, Feb 11)

It is rare when a politician speaks appreciatively of politicians in opposing parties. Sonia Furstenau writes, “Governing during a crisis is an unenviable task….I have a huge amount of empathy and compassion for everyone — from the premier to ministry staff — who is involved in the day-to-day decision-making that has to happen, while the landscape shifts relentlessly.”

Wow! Ms. Furstenau significantly disagrees with NDP positions, or she would not be in another party. Despite this, she has the broadmindedness to applaud what she can, even in her opponents. What an example! Oh that our federal politicians would do the same! Can you imagine MPs from different parties actually listening to each other, trying to understand each other’s positions, and collaborating for the good of Canada?
