With regards to the recent article about speeding on Chestnut street, I recently moved to Parksville, and live on Chestnut Street.
The article indicated that data recorded on Chestnut indicates frequent speeding in excess of 10 km/h over the 50 km/h speed limit.
The speed limit on Chestnut is actually 40 km/h and cars frequently do (in my estimation) more than 60-70 km/h.
Chestnut is not a straight street so in our case we have blind curves in both directions. There’s no problem backing out of our driveways if cars are doing 40 km/h — It’s a big concern if they are doing 60-70 km/h.
I personally believe speed humps are the only viable solution and would welcome their installation.
