As far as I am concerned, taxes in Campbell River are out of control and is spending.
The city knew for years that Catalyst may close. The lumber mill closed years ago. They have spent the tax money from the mills and not looked to the future.
I have not heard the city say anything about cutting costs, re-organizing, reconsidering their costs or anything else to save.
They only spend, e.g., the cruise ship terminal, the Spirit Park, new buses that are empty and the highway mess in Willow Point.
Cut the vehicle fleet in half. Cut the planning and building staff in half. There is going to be no building anyway.
As for turning the mill site into a garbage burner…that is surely the way to finish Campbell River.
