I feel it is my duty to notify the public in the Okanagan that we have poisonous spiders here.
We have the black widow and we also have the brown recluse. I was bitten on the ankle two months ago by a brown recluse and have been on antibiotics and painkillers ever since.
We have both of these spiders in this valley but was told it is rare that anyone gets bitten. I was the unfortunate one.
I am warning all parents to watch their children when playing outside. I would not like to see a child bitten by these spiders because the pain is intolerable at times.
