With our MLA, Eric Foster, now having made the decision to deny the will of the majority of his constituents on the Stickle Road issue, and therefore force the extension of 20th Street through an environmentally sensitive area, we have all been put on notice as to what support we can expect from our provincial representative on future issues where he has his own agenda.
Even though Mr. Foster has placed the decision not to install a traffic light at this intersection directly on the Highways Engineering staff, I know from my own long work history, working for a Crown Corporation, that the elected politicians can change any controversial Crown Corporation decision with a single phone call.
I have experienced it myself many times. Eric Foster obviously wants what the majority of us want no part of.
Having seen how Mr. Foster has dealt with this issue, I have a concern that a month following next May’s provincial election, (providing he gets re-elected), we will see the surveyors in Cosens Bay Park, surveying the 100-foot right of way for the new road.
Because we will all forget about it in four years won’t we?
