Stickle Road

Resident says motorists should be using Pleasant Valley Road

We’re all concerned about increased government spending, as well as destruction of wetlands on 20th Street north.

That is why more people should listen to the points raised by Gene Anderson in his Oct.  7 letter.

Pleasant Valley Road includes two roundabouts, as well as traffic lights, to allow vehicles to safely transit back to the city centre.

PV Road back into the city is much better, as all of the improvements to the route will attest.

I believe these improvements go along with the city’s attempts to encourage local traffic, including delivery trucks, to not utilize Highway 97 for local commuting.

Consider the cost of a 20th St. extension — $9 million. The cost of a light at Stickle and the highway is $500,000.

As opposed to cost of a no left-turn sign at the west end of Stickle; including  learning time for drivers who don’t pay attention (who? me), parts and labour and upkeep, probably a whole lot less.

I for one do not want a cumbersomely slow Harvey Avenue problem, such as our large neighbouring municipality to the south.
