Resident calls for a light to be installed at the Highway 97 intersection

We are not big but we’re small.

“We” is Armstrong. It’s not as big as Vernon but certainly not small in comparison to the Stickle Road residents and business.

Yet we have a traffic light. It’s right there on busy Highway 97A.

About 500 metres or so south of this traffic light, drivers must slow down from 100 to 90 kilometres per hour. And they do slow down. And they stop if the light is red against them.

Heading north, drivers have to slow down while coming downhill. Imagine!

Are these drivers unduly challenged?

To the best of my knowledge, there has not been one traffic accident since the light was installed a few years ago, and the light allows traffic to enter and exit Armstrong with greater safety.

It would appear to work brilliantly.

Spending $500,000 for a light at Stickle Road? It’s a bargain compared to the Ministry of Transportation’s alternative.
