Stickle Road

Residents want extended 20th Street scrapped by the ministry

We fail to understand why the Ministry of Transportation is insisting on spending millions of dollars to build a road so people won’t have to  make a left turn onto the highway.

Such a road already exists (Stickle Road to Pleasant Valley then right on 48th Avenue, down to either 27th Street or Highway 97).

This is the route that most people are currently using since it isn’t safe to make a left on to the highway from Stickle Road. This existing route may take about 30 to 45 seconds longer than the route being proposed, but it would save millions.

Time wise, it may not be any longer since the new proposal goes by Walmart, Rona and many other stores in the shopping mall — a very busy area right now.

The existing route is also the reason the ministry seems to feel there are few people trying to make a left on the highway — it isn’t safe and there is an alternative.

If the ministry can’t put in lights on the highway, save the millions and do nothing. We can continue to use the existing bypass.
