I would like to pass along my experience regarding the Stickle Road/Highway 97 intersection.
I worked on the Swan Lake auto mile for four-and-a-half years.
The four auto dealers — Honda, Nissan, Kia and Volkswagen — do considerable business from Salmon Arm as none of these brands have a dealer in Salmon Arm.
ln the case of Honda, 35 per cent of our business came from there.
Those customers were not happy about the left-hand turn across a busy highway. In fact many seniors, myself included, will not use a busy intersection without a light. I also believe that there are some business people who will set up shop on the auto mile if safe access via a traffic light goes ahead.
As for the RV park, it’s dangerous to turn right when you leave with a big RV and turning left is not a consideration.
Why all of the flim-flammery from the Ministry of Transportation? We need a light so let’s get on with it.
