Summer is a time for music and festivities. Buskers are a huge part of that.
In a small town like Qualicum Beach the buskers bring people to local area businesses. Even if you don’t have a loony to spare, clapping at the end and saying thank you for being here is all it takes to show your support.
Busking is a job, a way of life for some people. They can make a little extra cash to get by living the way they want to while sharing their talent to people on the street.
Maybe it helps support them while they go to school. Or maybe they have a family. I think that’s a great way to do it but sometimes shop owners think differently.
My friend and I were outside the grocery store and a busker was playing some very enjoyable tunes on his guitar that many people were appreciating when one of the managers, not so kindly, said he couldn’t play there so he had to move up the street and right then I thought I would take my business to somewhere that welcomed buskers outside their front door.
The only one I could think of was the liquor store and I don’t think that would work out because I am only 13.
Let’s support the buskers. They’re part of the summer fun!
