Survival of the fittest not pleasant for abandoned cats and kittens

Recently around Highway 35 at least three cats have been dropped off to fend for themselves, one in particular I am very upset with is the mother cat with her young kittens.

We have had CAAT here two years in a row to spay and neuter domestic pets, we have discount for low income people at the veterinary clinic, we have two papers that will advertise pets to be adopted free of charge, we have bulletin boards and Facebook.

Do you have any idea what it is like for a mother cat to feed three or four kittens and keep them warm while looking out for birds of prey,  coyotes, foxes, lynxes, wolf or cougars.

It is easy to think that the ending will be pleasant.

It has not been very pleasant for some of us that have tried to rescue them without success.
