Recently looking over my notes I found some thoughts as written originally by Andy Rooney, formally of CBS fame. I will miss Andy as he passed away this year.
I always enjoyed Andy’s style and his way at looking at things. It seems to me that life would be a whole lot less stressful for most of us if we did not take ourselves so seriously.
My view of drivers in a hurry, go ahead, I don’t mind getting to an accident scene after the fact.
Having very recently attended another funeral for a friend who passed away in his 70s, I was kind of thinking, I have lost so many friends who have passed away in their 70s; I can’t wait to get into my 80s.
On second thought, I am hearing so many tales of people in their 80s that ICBC seems to be disenfranchising as drivers.
It seems that ICBC often takes the license away of the primary driver, leaving the spouse, who never did much driving to be now the primary driver.
It makes one wonder about that kind of logic. So in frustration with your somewhat inexperienced spouse’s driving, you again find yourself behind the wheel, for the greater safety of the public, and without a license. You can explain, if stopped, my partner just took his or her medication.
An 85-year-old fellow recently crashed a small plane.
Using ICBC’s logic, with this recent plane crash, we can expect that there will be a big push to get older pilots out of the sky. In the year 2003 I understand there were more than 1,500 small plane crashes in the U.S. Most pilots of those planes were probably anything but in their 80s.
Well here it is, the end of another wondrous year. When we were kids Christmas took forever to come. Now older, years go by faster than daylight savings time, or an ever shrinking pension check. All we can do is wonder where the year went.
Take a little time, come spring, and smell the roses.
