Tax assessment professional and legislated

As a former employee/supervisor with the BC Assessment Authority, I consider your headline (Dec. 29 Capital News) to be inflammatory.

Re: Poperty tax headline.

As a former employee/supervisor with the BC Assessment Authority, I consider your headline (Residents Keep Assessment Authority Honest, Dec. 29 Capital News) to be inflammatory.

They are professional and are governed by provincial legislation which sets out their duties and powers.

They use a “mass appraisal” technique due primarily to resources and time which in effect minimizes their costs of operation and your taxes.
