I have lived in Okanagan Falls for the last twenty-some years and I am very disgusted to say the least at the waste of the tax dollars.
At the present time lights are being installed at the beach area, all the beautiful shade trees have been cut down, why? The beach cannot be used after a certain hour in the evening so why the lights? The spit area which was wonderful for people to walk their dogs has now become a paved walkway, what for? I can see that some improvement should be done in the beach area, but why this total lack of respect for the people of the area who pay the taxes.
For years we have requested that crossing lights be put at the corners of Cedar Street and Highway 97 and at 10th Avenue and Highway 97. We have been told it would cost too much money to put in lights to protect our children, but when it comes to ruining the park the cost is not at all too big.
What is the matter with the people who rule these things. Are they totally unable to think about the ordinary person and not the people with lots of money? It seems to me that we need a whole different group to run things in our beautiful town before it is no longer a family town where people want to see their children grow up and appreciate the natural things in life.
