Teacher strike lacks commitment

Hazelton teacher turnout not convincing sign of commitment to job action.

Editor:

I drove through Hazelton to see if there were picket lines at the public schools.

I support the teachers don’t get me wrong.

What I witnessed was very disappointing, at Hazelton Secondary five individuals waving across the road as I went by.

At New Hazelton elementary there were three individuals along Highway 16 waving.

If the teachers believe they are not being treated fairly by the government of British Columbia why are they not all on the picket line if this is a strike?

Instead they are leaving it to a few volunteers to represent them and the rest are taking a skiing holiday it seems.

First impressions are everything it makes it hard to support them when you see this.

It means to me they don’t believe it what they are fighting for.

Thank you.
