Government spending our tax dollars and waging a war against teachers with ads

Recently, I heard, read and saw expensive ads from our government telling you and I what to think. The ads suggest that teachers are greedy, selfish and unprofessional.

The government is spending our tax money waging war against teachers when they could be improving education for all.

In their ads, the B.C. government claims that their new bill will cap all class sizes. This is not true. Bill 22 clearly states that beyond Grade 3, there will not be caps on class size. I think all classes should be less than 30. With this bill a child in Grade 4 and up could have classes of much more than 30 students.

In their ads, the government says that a child with special needs will have the help they need.

Next year, there will be less money budgeted for education which means less ability for school districts to pay for teachers and certified education assistants. This leads to bigger class sizes so the school district has to pay fewer teachers.

There are other claims in these ads as well, but I am focusing on the important ones. Don’t believe the “facts” in these ads, hear both sides of the issues. Please tell your MLA to stop spending our money on attacking teachers who are helping our kids learn.
