Re: The Teck Resources Frontier Mine proposal.

This giant tar sands mine would require the destruction of thousands of hectares of old-growth forests, lead to the permanent loss of 14,000 hectares of wetlands, and destroy critical fish habitat.

We need to be stopping the growth of the fossil industry, not expanding it. Teck’s mega-mine would release a shocking amount of carbon pollution at a time when we should be taking measures to curb our emissions.

Research shows that in a context of low oil prices, the Teck Frontier Mine will never be commercially viable. That’s because the price of oil is well below the $90 a barrel that Teck says they need to make a profit.

It is time that we invest in alternate, safe, non-polluting energy methods and abandon the same old destructive behaviour.
