At the beginning of our winter here at Mcleod subdivision in Armstrong, I wrote a letter to the editor about how I felt like a target walking my dog River around our subdivision.
Even with a high-visibility vest, some cars appeared to be coming straight at me with high-beam lights on, making it difficult to see where we were in relation to the vehicle approaching.
I asked if them to move over if they can, and River and I would stop and wave before carrying on.
Well, this letter is to say a big thanks from River and I to everyone who travels up here in Mcleod.
I do not know if it was because of my letter or just the people themselves but I have not had one issue with vehicles since my letter came out.
In fact, people not only have moved over, they have slowed down and even stopped to say hi.
In every case in which I wave thanks, I always get a smile and a wave back from the people inside the cars.
I know the other dog walkers, horse riders and exercise walkers appreciate the consideration just as River and I do.
So again, thanks for making our winter walking around Mcleod subdivision safe.
I look forward to walking in the good weather and continued waves and smiles.
