As an out-of-towner, I wish to say thank you to your warm community for helping me realize the best possible experience, all things considered, during the recent hospitalization and subsequent death of my brother.
From the below-mentioned clergy to Vernon Jubilee Hospital staff and gift shop volunteers, local Parkinson Society of B.C. representatives, Sandman front desk clerks, Denny’s servers and various retailers, all were very kind and accommodating, even those who were unaware of our family’s circumstances.
It is with enormous gratitude that I mention here Pastor David Hunter, from Peace Lutheran Church. During my brother’s final days of life through what must be for a church, a very busy pre-Christmas week, Pastor David, a stranger to our family, devoted three compassionate visits to my brother at VJH. As it turned out, the pastor’s fourth planned visit for Dec. 24 became unnecessary. Both my dying brother and I were much comforted by this outreach of loving ministry as we experienced our shared earthly farewell. I feel such dedication to one’s calling and the selfless service to others provided by Pastor David deserves my outspoken gratitude. May he and his loved ones be blessed as much as his care blessed us.
