As many in the community know, the much loved Words on Wheels Bus (WOW bus) needs to be replaced. The current bus has served Oceanside well for the past seven years, bringing early literacy and other services to families free of charge.
On Sept. 18, Oceanside Building Learning Together (OBLT) held a Blue Bus Barn Dance blues event at Tiger Lily Farm to raise funds to refurbish a recently retired school bus. The bus was generously donated to us by School District 61.
A lot of work is needed to transform it into the new WOW bus so it can continue to provide services to the community. The money raised from the barn dance will go towards that undertaking.
OBLT would like to thank all the individuals and businesses who donated goods and services. A special thanks needs to go to Gerry Barnum, the M.T. Jar Blues Band, the Sand Dollars Square Dancers and Tiger Lily Farm. Your contributions reflect what is best about Oceanside.
