Meriel Wild thanks the community for supporting the recent fundraiser

Editor:

Thanks to the generous support of many individuals and business owners in the community, Petsafe Coalition of Canada raised just over $2,200 with its recent silent auction and dinner held Feb. 16 at the Smokey Oak Lounge and Restaurant.

The society exists to provide emergency shelter in the event of a local disaster, such as fire or flood and also to provide temporary foster care for pets whose owners are dealing with domestic abuse.

This money will go a long way to help with costs of volunteer training and purchasing the necessary nonperishable supplies required in order to provide immediate response should the need arise.

The directors would like to thank everyone who helped achieve such a successful result, including volunteers, donors and the Smokey Oak for hosting the event.
