A huge congratulations to the current RDN board of directors for its unanimous vote to withdraw ICF support of taxpayer funding for $945,000 towards the “re-start of passenger rail service on the Island” and its vote of non-confidence that the RDN board “does not support the retention or continuation of Granneke Management by the ICF board.”
Hopefully, this political initiative by the RDN will encourage other potential government contributors in this ICF boondoggle to follow suit, including the B.C. government ($7 million) and federal government ($7.5 million).
The five-year-old ICF concept of a $20 million solution to an $80 million problem, give or take a few more millions here or there, to restore rail service at a reduced service level, must come to an end.
The next question is — how will this $945,000 taxpayer investment now be used by the RDN?
