Editor: I am a senior citizen and retired forest worker. The Federal New Democratic Party doesn’t get it!
Not one NDP MP has gone on record as supporting the recent federal budget, Shame on every one of them.
The deafening sound of a silent “no” to an increase in the guaranteed income supplement for low income seniors, “no” to green retrofits, and “no” to measures that could help create Jobs leads me to believe the NDP have abandoned their core values in favour of playing politics. I may be a grey haired old logger, but I still understand the principal of a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
While the NDP are stumbling around in the bush looking for two birds that they will never find, jobs could have been maintained and created doing green retrofits to benefit the island economy.
Low income seniors could be planning their budget to include the increase in the GIS. Small business owners could be planning how best to use the EI measures proposed in the budget to create jobs and grow their business.
In my opinion, the Federal NDP has under-estimated the value that Canadians and Vancouver Islanders place on the economy and jobs.
