The Canadian Pacific (CP) Railway Holiday Train will be in Radium Hot Springs next Tuesday night.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the train again after six long years. I was spoiled living in Golden where the train stops on its way through the community every year.
I went through a drought living in the West Kootenay, and of course locally we are only lucky enough to see it every second year as it uses alternating routes to the coast.
Members of the audience who get to see some very talented performers are of course not the only winners at this event.
Everyone is encouraged to bring a donation to the local food bank and CP doesn’t come empty-handed in that regard either.
The Columbia Valley Food Bank (CVFB) is a tremendous organization that is amazingly well supported by the community. I don’t want to downplay the need, because it is definitely there but better than many communities, the local bank seems to be very well supported. I haven’t been asked to put out a special reminder message in February or March to say that the need is still here now that the holiday season is over. That message is sent time and again in many communities.
Copper Point Golf Course’s annual Feed the Town is just another in a series of wonderful events that support the CVFB and those in need. A huge thank you goes out to Brian, staff and volunteers for providing the feast.
Should you wish to make a donation to the food bank but are unable to make it to see the holiday train in Radium Hot Springs on Tuesday evening, drop your donation off here at The Valley Echo and we’ll cheerfully pass it on.
