In the latest act in the Marine Trail saga, soon to begin its fifth season, Mayor Ranns appears to be the odd man out.
He liked the Committee A voting block so long as it agreed with him. But then there was that pesky court case where the “buy a vote” scheme was found to be totally bogus.
So now he would like the rules changed again. He says that the first duty of an elected official is to follow the will of the people as determined by the official. Wrong. The first duty is to act within the laws of the land. Otherwise you have surrendered the rule of law to special interest groups and the whim of politicians facing re-election and seeking to garner votes.
While the spectacle of the CRD suing its own members for doing their legal duty is delicious, it would be expensive. Time to cancel this no longer funny series.
