Psalm 119:49 Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope. (NAS95)
God’s Word is a powerful messenger of hope. One can cling to His promises when everything around you is to the contrary. If God has said it, it is true, because God’s very character is truth.
Jesus described Himself as the Way, the Truth and the Life. He knows the end from the beginning and so nothing catches Him by surprise. He will never have to say, “Oh, well, I didn’t think of that! Now that changes things!”
Most Christians can point to times when God’s Word has become to them more than just a written word. When they know that they know that God has spoken something into their life.
It is called a “rehema” word. That is what the Psalmist is talking about here. God’s very Word that has been spoken into an individual life.
Spending time to pray those personal promises back to God is faith building and prayer in the will of God.
As we pray them through, we will become aware how God is bringing to pass His will in our lives.
This is a powerful way to restore hope.
Reminding the Lord and ourselves what He has promised.
His Word is forever settled in heaven.
