They’re angels in every way

Dear Sir:

It was the quickest 48 hours I ever went through. My legs were failing me and it had become a question of balance. I needed a wheelchair.

Looking at options on Tuesday, I crawled through the “swamp,” the term I call going nowhere. By the end of the day I learned there was no coverage for me – it had to be a power wheelchair. One business said theirs would be about $9,000. Yikes. I couldn’t afford that. Medichair said theirs would be about $4,500. By Wednesday I could get a bank loan from BMO.

Thanks to Ron and Mavis Ramsey of Helping Hands, I heard about Kimmunity Angels. Call Donna Slavik. I did. At first Donna said they would pick up half of the cost. Wow. They really are angels. Donna came by with a paper to sign. “By the way, we’ll buy the wheelchair for you. You’ll get it tomorrow,” she said. Double wow.

Thursday morning at 9 a.m. Medichair delivered my space-age wheelchair. It’s built by a scooter company and has scooter wheels, not the traditional big wheels/little wheels look. It has a plush bucket seat, a joy stick and it turns on a dime.

The portable box is for recharging the battery. For an extra amount there’s a backpack that carries two grocery bags or whatever.

On Tuesday I thought I was in a quicksand bog but by Thursday I could be getting speeding tickets.

That’s Terrace!
