In the March 28 edition of the Leader, a story stated that a poll of 838 Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley adults showed 36 per cent support for tolls and 33 per cent for vehicle levies.
In order to make this story meaningful, the questions posed in the poll should have been stated. The city of residence and the normal method of commuting of those polled should also have been stated.
I suspect that those living north of the Fraser were strongly in favour of tolls and those strongly in favour of vehicle levies mainly use transit.
Without knowing the motive for giving a particular answer to a poll question, the poll loses a great deal of its value. Most people are in favour of that which hurts them the least. They are happy to let the other guy pay.
