Have they been into the Christmas cheer already at the Municipality of North Cowichan council meetings?
When I read about the traffic calming measures coming to Drinkwater I thought it was an April Fools joke, but it isn’t April 1.
So here are my proposals that make as much sense as the municipality’s:
1. Remove the pavement and go back to gravel or just let the road deteriorate to potholes. That will slow traffic down.
2. How about horse-drawn vehicles only?
3. Close the intersection of Hwy 18 and Drinkwater eastbound and have the access west from the Trans Canada only.
Once you have decreased the traffic volume on Drinkwater it will increase volume elsewhere and create the same issues.
I guess the only solution is speed bumps at 150 metre intervals on all roads.
Maybe this is all about supporting the auto repair shops, as going over speed bumps at 50 km/h will prematurely wear out vehicle suspension components.
I suggest to council, enjoy the holiday season and crawl into your nice warm bed with visions of speed bumps all the way down your street.
