Treasures for sale at thrift shop

Before you bag your donations, ask yourself, “Could someone else use this item or should I send it to the dump?”

Editor, The Times:

The Hospital Auxiliary Thrift store in Vavenby is full of treasures of all kinds, donated by kind people and prepared for sale by the volunteer Auxiliary members. All proceeds after expenses go to support Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital.

Unfortunately, some expenses have been increasing in the past few years due to the cost of disposing of trash. Anything that comes into the store that is broken, stained beyond the cleaning skills of the lady who takes things home to launder, or ripped and not suitable for shop rags must be taken to the dump. Just like the average householder, the thrift store pays the $1 a bag charge for each bag taken there. Each dollar spent on expenses is one less that supports the hospital.

Before you bag your donations, ask yourself, “Could someone else use this item or should I send it to the dump?” Then, please bring your treasures to us and we will see that they find a new home. We welcome you to come out and explore the racks and shelves Wednesdays and Sundays, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. A treasure trove awaits you!
