A few days ago I was walking on the now stoney riverbed of the Koksilah River in a very deserted area.
I am 82, and I walk carefully with my old ski poles supporting me, discovering lovely flowers and silent places. I fell head first, actually face first, onto the rocks and the sand.
Blood and sand covered my eyes and face. When I finally managed to stand up again, I saw through a tiny slit in my eyes, what I assumed to be a male figure.
First thought, “Oh my God” car keys around my neck, purse at my side.
I am the helpless, blind victim, in an isolated area, a situation any person in need of drugs or desperate for any other reason would dream off. But there came a friendly voice,”Can I help you?” and he went to the river, wet his handkerchief, and helped me clean up so I could see.
He took, my arm and walked me off the riverbed onto a trail, right to my car, making sure I could drive.
He was so friendly and kind — good to talk to each other.
My angel in disguise has a name: Joseph George.
Thank you Joseph! You taught me that kindness and love are all around. I should not let fear run my life.
