United Way campaigns

United Way Central and Northern Vancouver Island is a proud funder of three effective programs in the Oceanside area

United Way Central and Northern Vancouver Island is a proud funder of three effective programs in the Oceanside area: the Errington Therapeutic Riding Association (which helps children, youth and adults with physical and mental disabilities through a horse riding program and developing a bond with their horse); the Self Advocacy Program at the Parksville and District Association for Community Living (where adults with developmental disabilities are taught important life skills to help them transition to live as independently as possible); and the On-Call Bereavement Counsellor program at Oceanside Hospice (which provides group and individual grief counselling sessions helping adults  move through their grief).

Every fall, United Way runs a fundraising campaign to raise dollars for these much needed programs. This year our goal is to raise $750,000 for 33 programs in the Central Island. Donations are invested back into communities like Parksville and Qualicum Beach where the money is raised.

To ensure that these three local programs are funded in 2014, please make a donation to United Way at www.uwcnvi.ca or at 250-729-7400. Or call us if you would like to volunteer with the United Way. We are looking for a board member from Oceanside and to recruit some new volunteers.

By giving you will ensure that programs and services will move people out of poverty, support kids to learn, grow and thrive and connect people in need with supports and services.

Our board and staff would also like to thank the following workplaces that are running campaigns this fall for United Way in Parksville and Qualicum Beach. They care and act on that caring by helping others and contributing to a healthy community: BMO Bank of Montreal, Career Centre and Oceanside Youth Employment, CIBC, EpCor, government workplaces, Harris Auto Group, Island Health, RBC, Scotia Bank and TD Bank.
