Unsightly properties

Nice to see Parksville city council give some attention to cleaning up unsightly properties on Belson Street and Wembley Road.

Nice to see Parksville city council give some attention to cleaning up unsightly properties on Belson Street and Wembley Road. Driving throughout the community, it is evident that there is a lot more to do in this regard.

What is happening to all of the abandoned and unsightly and fenced off commercial sites in the downtown core on the Island Highway, some there for years? Not a great view, especially for our tourist visitors.

This spring there was forest demolition on the Island Highway between 562 and 624 (Bay to Rushton Lane) there it sits with some logs, stumps, dead fall and piles of slash forest debris with no evidence of potential cleanup. In this climate of intensive heat the fire hazard potential is scary.

In stark contrast is the new development underway at Stanhope Road and 19A. Land clearing began about three weeks ago, logs are neatly piled and there is one pile of forest debris left. Service material is on site. Why the different approach with two sights within blocks of one another?
