Both sides of Knight Road – creek to creek – have been a disgrace to the city for the last two years. In the spring, 2011, a lady and I cleaned up weeds, which Public Works picked up upon request.
In mid July, she and I again pulled weeds and trimmed shrubs. After numerous phone calls to Public Works to have the weeds picked up (with no results), I called in at City Hall on July 25th and explained the situation, which they already knew, and was told the weeds would be picked up that day. However, next morning a gentleman (whose name I won’t mention) phoned and informed me that the city is not in the practice of cleaning up what home-owners discard.
I said, “It’s city property.” He said, “It’s the home-owners’ responsibility to keep this clean. It’s all on the web site.”
We agreed that neither of us would clean up the mess. It was concluded that I’d shovel the weeds back to the property line, which I did later that day.
I said, “That’s the last volunteer work I do along that area!”
I noticed that Knight Road got cleaned up Friday, Aug.5th. But, one pile is still there and growing with shrubs!
