My Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The Doukhobor Village Museum is open for the season and we welcome all. We were visited by many cultures this past week : we were honoured with Arun Gandhi’s presence and the Victoria Choir delighted our Audio Visual room with their sound when they practiced for their performance. We shared a picnic of pickled eggs and students delighted us with their enthusiasm for various artifacts.
On behalf of the Kootenay Doukhobor Historical Society, I would like to thank all of the volunteers for their ongoing support. Our members are working together to make this site inviting to all. Thank you Mens’ Choir and woodworking groups, Walter Pereversoff – for all of your help and especially in trimming the Pine tree, and Eric Dombrowski for helping to carve the posts to fit the fence as well as cleaning up the trimmed branches and all of the other helpful things you have done.
We have had a few tours including Robson, Mt. Sentinel, Waldorf, Creston and LIR Schools as well as exchange students from Quebec and Ontario. They were wonderful days with sunshine and smiles.
Our first Summer Student, Cellene Conception is fitting in splendidly! She is a great assistant – learning local history, preservation and care of curiosities, guiding tourists, filing and helping to keep the grounds blooming beautifully.
If there is a student between the ages of 15 – 30 that would like to have a Summer Job here at the Doukhobor Discovery Centre, please call us for more information at 250-365-5327.
