This is a letter to all those who speed through the school zone on First Ave near FG Leary:
As I was driving home from school this morning, a small boy darted onto the road because he was fooling around with a friend on the sidewalk. He covered the distance from the sidewalk, through the bike lane, onto the road in a second.
It’s a good thing I was doing 30km and the person behind me was as well. It meant I could hit my brakes firmly and stop in time. It meant I wasn’t rear-ended. It also avoided a chain reaction that may have caused me to strike the child if my vehicle had been hit with enough force from behind.
What if you had been coming instead of me this morning?
