Water woes

Coldstream writer estimates $5 savings/month by filling water dispenser from kitchen tap

I, like John Hegler, have been drinking Coldstream water. Coldstream was the only municipality that I had ever heard of that gave you topsoil for free when you paid your tax. (for 38 years)

Now thanks to the Duteau Creek filtration plant, I fill my kitchen water dispenser from the kitchen tap. I estimate this saves me about $5 a month.

I guess it would have been better to twin the water lines but we would never have passed the cost of some $50 million to accomplish this ideal situation.

As for growing crops with this improved water, we farmers are worse off because of the lack of topsoil we used to get — go figure.

I agree with John if he is saying that the semi-educated administration class is woefully overpaid. I remember when one administrator left the hospital he said, “You don’t need an administrator.” It tells you something.

As a former business agent for the retail clerks’ union, I remember how hard it was to wring a raise out of every employer — so I’m not against money per se.

Lastly, I thought the estimate this year was no shortage of water. With regards to a moratorium on housing starts, I don’t think it’s helpful to suggest remedies that are utterly impossible to enact. Incidentally, I think old Abe’s quote was wrong.
