We did not elect Courtenay councillors to hide in the shadows

Dear editor,

Perhaps next year is the time we should do a clean sweep at City Hall in Courtenay.

Dear editor,

Perhaps next year is the time we should do a clean sweep at City Hall in Courtenay.

The only elected official with the integrity and fortitude to state what his position is on the Maple Pool issue is Mayor Larry Jangula.

He has been on the record since the beginning saying that he is not in favour of forcing 50-plus people into being homeless as a result of a flood years ago that was caused by the untimely release of water upstream.

The rest of council uses the excuse that they can’t say how they voted on this issue because there is a legal action (that they initiated). Balderdash.

That does not stop our elected leaders from publicly taking a stand on this very important issue. Any of them who continues to refuse to state how they are voting on this matter will not be getting my vote.

We did not elect them to hide in the shadows. If their position is a principled one then why are they hiding?
