Every weekend since before Christmas the First Responders have been extremely busy on Saturday and Sunday morning due to drunkenness and bar fights.
Sirens blaze up and down Dogwood from Midnight 6 am. Sure, there are a few car accidents, fires and heart attacks in those weeks but for the most part, they’re just related to alcohol.
Our First Responders are drained with non-stop calls on the weekends and overworked on top of it. If this continues maybe the new mayor should step up his pledge for a safer Campbell River and hire new firemen/women and paramedics.
If not, when those extra waiting long minutes for a heart attack or serious medical emergency is really needed, someone may die instead of a drunk getting to bed.
