We pay more, they get more

Re: Bus change, Aug. 20.

It’s not long ago that TransLink altered the 351 bus service between South Surrey/White Rock and Vancouver so that travellers were forced – at no little inconvenience – to change at Bridgeport Station.

Now we learn SkyTrain faregates cannot recognize bus paper tickets and so travellers will be required to pay twice – the cost of a trip will be doubled during off-peak hours.

Is this simply a cash-grab, or just sheer incompetence?

At the same time, we hear that TransLink executives are to receive significant salary increases (TransLink salaries on rise, Aug. 20.)

This is outrageous!

When will our politicians bring TransLink executives to book and impress upon them that the public interest should be paramount?
